This is one of my favorite fun cards that seemingly never fail to amuse and amaze those who have never seen one. And it's so EASY to make. So let's get to it:
I have improved on the card above in some respects but not all, but I want to show you the comparison.
A few comments about the second one: (1) I placed the ribbon too low--should be up at least 1/4" higher. (2) I used retired beads: Brights: Perles so you could see them better. (3) I forgot to place the Real Red piece of card stock behind the ornament. Oh my!
STAMP SET: All Holidays (114916, $34.95)
CARD STOCK: Old Olive, Real Red, Very Vanilla, Merry Moments Designer Series Paper
INK: Real Red, Basic Black
ACCESSORIES: Ornament Punch, 3/4" Polka-Dot Grosgrain ribbon: Real Red, Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Window Sheet (p. 158), Micro Beads
Cut a piece of Old Olive card stock to 4-1/4" x 11"; fold in half .
Cut a scrap of Real Red card stock to about 2-1/2" x 2-1/2". Set aside for a minute.
Cut a piece of Merry Moments (or anything else you'd prefer to use) Designer Series Paper (DSP) to 4" x 5-1/4". Punch an ornament in the lower left corner, about 1/2" - 3/4" up from the bottom and 1/2" - 3/4" in from the left side. Hover this DSP over the folded Old Olive card front to determine where to attach the Real Red scrap so that it's below the Ornament Punch opening and attach it there.
Totally optional step. You can lay (do NOT attach) your DSP layer over the card front and Real Red piece and stamp an image on the Real Red piece. I did not do this.
Next step is placing double-sided foam tape around the area surrounding the punched image. You can use the borders of a sheet of dimensionals for this process or a roll of foam tape from a craft store. Whichever one you use, be consistent and use only that product on a card. Don't intermix them or your seal won't be secure. Also, you don't want to be able to see these foam pieces from the top of the card. Finally, make sure there aren't any gaps where the foam tape corners meet. This will keep your beads or glitter or whatever you're using is your shaker from falling out.
Photo above: Place some foam tape or Dimensionals randomly on other areas of the card front where there won't be any shakers. Otherwise your Designer Series Paper won't lie flat and even. Interesting looking 'pattern' when applied isn't it?! :) DO NOT ATTACH YET.
Apply Snail Adhesive to the back of your DSP (designer series paper). Cut a piece of window sheet (acetate) large enough to generously cover the frame that will hold your beads. Adhere the window sheet to the back of the DSP. This step will help to keep the micro beads from popping onto the window sheet due to static electricity.
Pull all of the backing off of the foam tape or Dimensionals and then pour a small amount of micro beads and/or glitter into the foam frame.
Adhere the DSP to the card front.
Cut a 4" piece of Real Red Polka Dot ribbon, run a strip of Snail adhesive on the back side of the ribbon and carefully attach it to the card front. Cut a second 4" piece of Polka Dot ribbon and tie it in a knot. Secure it over the flat piece of ribbon with two Glue Dots.
Stamp your greeting on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Then trim the piece to a rectangle, probably around 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" or 3". Cut a piece of Real Red cardstock to 1/4" taller and wider than the Very Vanilla piece and layer the two. Attach to cardfront with several Dimensionals.
Place that punched-out ornament inside the card for eye appeal.
Enjoy your card.
