- Five (5) 4" x 4" squares of Designer Series Paper, suggested that they all be the same design.
- Two (2) 2" x 2" squares of coordinating card stock.
- 20" of coordinating ribbon
- coordinating button
- Red Sticky Tape
- SNAIL adhesive
1- Fold all five squares of DSP in half in one direction; then turn 90 degrees and fold in half in the other direction. Use a Bone Folder to create a strong crease.
2- Make ONE fold on the diagonal. Use a Bone Folder again to create a strong crease.
3- Refold these pieces as necessary so that the diagonal fold is a VALLEY and the 'square' folds are MOUNTAINS. (see photo above and below)
(EXCUSE MY TABLE MESS. That's just the way it is right now--and most of the time to be honest!)
4- Place Red Sticky Tape on all four edges (one side only) of your folded 4" x 4" pieces. Burnish (rub firmly) with your Bone Folder.
TIP: Red Sticky Tape can be annoying to work with! I place mine on my wrist, like a bracelet, and pull the tape from that position, then cut. Makes it much easier for me.
5- Attach all five pieces to each other making sure they are all set in the same direction.
6- Trim a very sharp point on your ribbon and thread it through the button so that both tails end up on the same side of the button.
7- Attach, with Red Sticky Tape, to the outside (closed, folded up position) of the star ornament, with the end of the ribbon pointing to the CLOSED EDGE. Turn over and attach the other end of the ribbon.
8- Use either Snail Adhesive or Red Sticky Tape to the outside edges of the folded ornament. Remove protective pieces and attach the 2" x 2" squares.
9- Decorate any part of the star, inside or out, as desired. I haven't done that yet!
Position the botton close to the ornament to keep it closed. Pull it away from the ornament and "turn ornament inside out" to get the open star. Then slide the button close to the folded pieces to maintain that position.
