I received a little girl onesie card months ago in a swap and knew immediately that I'd be adapting it for my daughter's baby when the time came. Well, he's here and I made this darling little onesie card for him:
Here's a close-up on the little 'snaps' at the bottom:
And the 'logo' on the front..........
This card can so easily be adapted for a baby girl---just swap out the color and use the Scallop Circle Punch from Stampin' Up! to add some frill to the legs*.
INGREDIENTS & HOW-TO GUIDE: All supplies are from Stampin' Up!
Stamp Set: Sanded Background, Canvas Background, Loads of Love
Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Kraft, Brocade Blue, Whisper White scrap
Ink: Bashful Blue Classic Pad and Marker, Versamarker, Close to Cocoa Classic Pad and Marker
Accessories: Punches: Circle: 1-3/8", 1-1/4", 1", and 1/4", Stampin' Sponge, Dimensionals, Crafter's Tool Kit: punching tool and mat, Mini Glue Dots, Snail Adhesive.
HOW TO:
-Cut your Bashful Cardstock to 4-1/4" x 11"; fold at TOP; stamp front, using Brocade or Bashful Blue ink and the Sanded Background stamp.
-With 1-3/8" circle punch, come in about half way and punch a hole in the center of the fold.
-With 1-3/8" circle punch, punch hole on the left and right bottom area for legs.
-Make a little score line about 1/4" up from the bottom between the legs.
-Snip the sharp corners of the punched area of the legs.
-Sponge around outside edges of main card using either Brocade or Bashful Blue ink.
-Measure down about 1-3/4" from the top of the card and very lightly draw a pencil line in about 3/8" to 1/2" from each side. Then draw an angular line from that point (1/2" in) to the bottom of the card. Cut that wedge out on each side. I would suggest using a ruler, a hobby blade and a cutting mat for this process unless you're a whiz with your personal paper cutter.
-For the snaps, punch out three circles with the 1/4" punch. With the punch tool from the Crafter's Tool Kit, punch out w little "button holes" in each circle. Attach with glue dots as shown.
-For sleeves, lay scraps of Kraft CS over top front of onesie in the arm area and cut to fit from neck to inside of 'arm hole'. Attach with Snail adhesive. Draw stitching lines, if desired, with Close to Cocoa marker.
-Medallion: With 1-1/4" circle punch, punch a circle from a scrap of Brocade Blue CS; attach to card. With Close to Cocoa, stamp the dogs on a piece of Kraft CS. Punch out with 1" circle punch. Sponge edges with Close to Cocoa, color in center dog with Versamarker. Attach with dimensional.
-"Label": Using Brocade Blue ink, stamp a small scrap of Whisper White CS with the Canvas Background stamp. Hint: I ink up the stamp (just a small area in this case) and then lay my scrap onto the stamp which is laying face-up on my table. Then I rub over the cardstock with my fingers---sometimes adding a layer of scrap paper so I don't get ink all over my fingers. You can write the baby's name on the tag (in my case the baby's name hadn't yet been determined), with the Brocade Blue marker. Add a little stitching line with Brocade Blue marker if you like. Attach to side of card with Snail Adhesive.
-DONE! Please ask if you have any questions--just add a comment below and it will come to my attention. Simple as that. Or email me.
*To add frill for a girl's card use Whisper White cardstock. Using a 1-3/8" punch, punch a circle from the Whisper White CS. Then align your Scallop Circle Punch over this circle and punch out a scalloped circle ring. You'll need several of these rings. Lay this piece over your neck and legs and cut away any unnecessary remnants. Or---cut away any bits that don't look like frill around the neck or legs! :)

Janet---I made it! Just cut a little piece of WWhite CS, lay it on the Canvas b.g. stamp that's inked up with Brocade or Bashful Blue and then carefully letter the name you want. Baby was born yet and didn't have a name so I couldn't put his name on the 'tag'. Fun huh?
