My Stamp Room offers many challenges, mainly because it is over the garage (bedroom in a previous incarnation) and the roof has a steep pitch. So when it came to installing one of Stampin' Up!'s new Décor Elements I was sort of stumped. There are slanted 'vertical' skylights on the north slanting wall and dormer windows on the south wall. The "Create Definition" is the Element I wanted to place in the room but I have no space that would accommodate it as presented: 4 lines of text. The fix: to separate the lines and install them side by side across an 84" stretch of wall. It worked great! I embellished it with the "Flourishes" element. I still want to place the "Flourishes" star-type flowers but I'm not sure just where.
I can't get far enough back from this wall to take a straight-on photo. I tried and it looked totally weird. No scale, very angular, not pretty actually. Be sure to click on the photo for a larger image.
Looking at the far left end of this wall, and because of my very limited place for shelves and normal vertical storage, you can see Stampin' Up!'s Stampin' Stacks attached to the wall. (Thanks to my sweetie for installing them!) I store my eyelets, brads, and buttons there. This system works terrifically for me. And unfortunately the Stampin' Stacks have been discontinued. Hey--don't look at me. I'm not the one in charge!
On the center and right side of the wall, I have two metal "hang-em-ups" from Ikea. I can display and hold things on them with magnets and in little magnetic mesh baskets. Works great for me too. As I said earlier, I've had to find ways to utilize these slanted walls for storage.
I hope you've enjoyed this little tour of my one slanted wall and the "Create Definition" of SU!'s Décor Elements. Where would YOU place those 3 remaining flowers? Let me know if you'd like a Décor Elements brochure--just click on Email Me in the left column.
Have you checked out Stampin' Up!'s new product line yet? Décor Elements? What fun. Yesterday I applied two more "Elements", one to the back window of my car, the second to a sloped wall in my stamp room. Today I'd like to show you my car. I love it. It should give a smile to the driver behind me and it gives me a smile as I look in the rear view mirror. I can see it in the right direction when I take the time to look while stopped---not while driving. :)
It's kind of hard to get around the reflections but if you click on the photo you'll get a better view. Check back tomorrow when you can see what I've put up in my stamp room.
Here's the list we've all been waiting for! What will be leaving the Stampin' Up! inventory?? Check it out below. There is GOOD NEWS in this list: just think of all the new accessories that will be replacing those that are leaving! Oh I just love that thought!!!!
Items on this discontinued accessories list will be available while supplies last or through August 10, whichever comes first.
Products
are marked as available or unavailable. If an item is unavailable, the
supply is exhausted and the item can no longer be ordered. This list
will be updated every afternoon through August 10. I will post the list as often as possible. You can always send me a private email for the most current list if you have a special item you just remembered you wanted to order before August 10th since I might not get the update posted every day. Check the "Last updated........." for the time of the last update. I won't place a totally new article each time! :)
Be prepared with a backup item in case the item you want is no longer available. And if you just wanted that particular item, then just wait to see what's coming in the new catalog. I know no more than you do about that!
Last updated July 26 8:00 a.m. Red type indicates not available. I have to admit that the table below now has a mind of its own!!! I cannot delete. Five of the 'out of stock' items, highlighted in red jumped to the top of the table. One remained in the table. So, be sure to check all the way to the bottom after each update. Who knows what this thing might do next!?
As promised, this is the second project from our June Inkertoys' meeting. This bag is just so darned cute!
This was my Bag in a Box, using the Afternoon Tea* DSP from the Occasions 2008 Mini Collection. The inspiration came from Paula Goff, of Hanford CA, who is a great supplier of fun ideas. Thanks for all your great ideas Paula! Check out her blog for her tutorial on this bag.
TIP: I did one thing different on my bag and that was to secure my tabs with brads, two on each side. I find that no adhesive holds tabs securely for an extended length of time.
The green box/bag was Robin's sample for us, using Afternoon Tea DSP*. And on the right is Kathy's, before embellishments, also using the Afternoon Tea DSP*.
*The Afternoon Tea DSP was retired when the Occasions Mini Collection 2008 expired on June 30, 2008.
Enjoy this project! You can make it with any designer series paper and have a bag you'll be proud of. And you'll really impress your recipient!
Almost every 4th Thursday of the month I drive about 150 miles south of home to attend my adopted side-line/up-line's Stampin' Up! Demonstrator meeting in Fresno, CA. The group is called Inkertoys and Robin Rouch is the leader of the pack! She's been a demonstrator about as long as I have, joining Stampin' Up! in 1997. I joined in 1996.
This post and the next two will highlight our June 2008 projects. Usually three demonstrators present projects for all of us to do and then take home to share with our customers and stampin' friends.
Lori presented this project, a sticky note pad on a coaster. How simple and how handy.
Supplies:
Porcelain Prints Designer Series Paper (p. 170, Spring/Summer 2008 Stampin' Up! Catalog) Cuts: 4" x 4" (for coaster) and 1" x 3" (for clip)
Add a touch of elegance to any occasion when you gift someone with one of these gorgeous cards featuring Stampin’ Up!’s Le Jardin designer paper and the Pretties Kit. In this class you’ll create four cards, each featuring different elements from the Pretties Kit, and a custom-designed box to hold them in. This would make a lovely birthday gift for a friend or teacher and.........it's not too early to be thinking of Christmas gifts. Plan ahead!
Aren't these just sooooo lovely? And they're fairly easy to make. The Pretties Kit contains a "ton" of silk flowers ready to be transformed into the color of your choice using Stampin' Pastels,Watercolor Crayons, re-inkers, or Classic Ink and an Aqua Painter for starters. (109114, $29.95/50 silk flowers, plus beads, pearls, rhinestone brads,p. 188, Spring/Summer Stampin' Up! catalog)
This kit also uses the Le Jardin Designer Series Paper (DSP) which will be retiring on August 10, 2008. (109151, $9.95/12 sheets--2 each of 6 double-sided designs, p. 168) Oh will I miss it. But you know it'll be replaced with an equally stunning and versatile DSP. (The only reason I'm guessing that it will be retiring is because it has the current 2007-08 In-Colors as part of the design. If the In-Colors are leaving, I'm assuming the paper containing them will be leaving as well.)
Supply List • Stamps: Elegant Cheer, Baroque Motifs • Paper: Le Jardin DSP, So Saffron 12” x 12” CS, So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla 8 ½” x 11” CS, Medium Very Vanilla envelopes • Ink: Chocolate Chip (or Basic Brown), Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke classic ink • Accessories: Wide Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon, Pretties Kit, bone folder, paper trimmer with scoring blade, 1/8” circle punch, 1/16” circle punch, 3/16” corner rounder punch, slit punch, key tag punch, designer label punch, paper piercer, paper piercing template, foam mat, paper snips, Tombow multi-purpose adhesive, sticky strip, Stampin’ Dimensionals, mini glue dots, Snail adhesive, stampin’ sponge dauber, Stamp-a-ma-jig (optional)
To take advantage of this beautiful project, simply email me with the products you will need for completion of the project and I will send you the detailed instructions, via email, for FREE. You might have many of the supplies on hand but, I would imagine, not the Le Jardin DSP or the Pretties Kit. Alternately, I can prepare all of the necessary supplies for you and present them as a complete Kit TO GO. Cost: $32 which includes US Priority Shipping. I will adjust the shipping as necessary for outside the US. Bear in mind that I will actually be having a vacation in late July (Stampin' Up!'s 20th Aniversary Convention in Salt Lake City) and August (family reunion in New Jersey and then a meander back to California via the northern states, family, friends and National Parks) so there could be a delay in shipping. I will communicate timing with you privately.
Please place your order by August 9th, 2008,so I can place my supply order before the current catalog expires on August 10th at 11.55 p.m. Le Jardin is certain to retire since it contains colors from the 2007-08 In-Color (TM) group.
And actually has been for a almost a month. I thought it was posted here, but........I don't see it!!! Yikes. So here is what I had to say...........
In preparation for the new Fall/Winter 2008 Stampin' Up! Catalog, we have to say adios to some of our older favorite stamp sets. Stampin' Up! posted their Retirement List a few weeks ago and I'm remiss in taking so long to get it posted here. That thing called LIFE, as well as my dial-up internet connection and my lack of enough technical skills at times, just slows me down.
The sets on this list are only available through August 10, 2008, so don't wait too long to order yours. Once they're gone, they're gone. Click on the image below for a larger print of the list. Or, better yet, click on Retired List (Alphabetical) or Retired List (Numerical).
I'm as close as an email or the phone to help you purchase the sets you don't want to be without once this catalog has retired on August 10, 2008. Don't be disappointed.
I promised in my July Newsletter (sent out today!) that I would have further details on two of my convention swap cards. I had made 20 full sized swap cards for my Sudsol* swap before I realized that they didn't have to be full sized cards, but rather card fronts only. When you're making lots of cards to exchange with other demonstrators, it's expedient to save card stock and time and just make the front. So, I adapted the full card I was making into this card:
What I liked about the card was the 'fun' created with the 1-1/4" and Scallop Circle Punches.
I layered the Whisper WhiteCS (1-3/8" x 2-5/8") onto the Really RustCS (1-1/2" x 2-3/4"). Then I positioned the 1-1/4" circle punch so that the open end of it was about 1/4" from the end of the CS piece, and punched. On a separate piece of Almost Apricot CS, I stamped the medallion from the Boho Backgrounds stamp set using Really Rust Classic Ink. I trimmed it down and attached it to the back of the punched out hole with Snail adhesive. On a scrap of Really Rust CS I punched a hole with the 1-1/4" circle punch and then, with the Scallop Circle punch upsidedown, I centered the hole left by the circle punch, and punched with the Scallop Circle punch making a 'wreath'. I dotted the back of the 'wreath' with Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive and laid it over the medallion and hole. The rest of the card is pretty straight forward:
Roll the Apricot Appeal CS with the Boho Friend roller wheel using Apricot Appeal ink and attach it to the Really Rust CS base.
Wrap the 2" x 4" piece of Really Rust CS with ribbon of your choice--here I used Pumpkin Pie Striped Grosgrain. Attach on the back of CS with Snail Adhesive.
With the Paper Piercing Tool from the Deluxe Tool Kit and the Paper Piercing Template, I poked 3 holes along the ribbon into which I then placed Gold Brads.
Before attaching the medallion to the card front with Dimensionals, I stamped the One of a Kind image from the One of a Kind stamp set, using Really Rust ink.
I made 77 card fronts for this swap.
Another swap came along, for UDI, Utah Divas International, requiring a Friendship theme with a purple and white color theme. Guess what? My first card, except for the colors, fit the requirements exactly!!! Oh the joy! I was pleased with the card and could adapt it to my new swap. I only had to make 22 of these! What do you think?
*Sudsol: It is an email list created exclusively for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators to discuss business concerns, tips, and business aids. Please click on the blinkie on the right column to check out the website and consider a two week trial membership.
Stampin Up! released a new Product Line, Décor Elements, on July 1st. Check it out on the SU! Customer Website. (I'm having problems uploading the Brochure but will get it up a.s.a.p.) In the meantime I have purchased one of the Elements and placed it among the photos on the high wall in our office. It just tickles me and I can see the addiction coming on!
Here is a close up view. Check out the texture of the wall. I'd call it a medium texture and the image went onto it quite easily. Just be sure to rub it (there is a tool you can purchase separately which makes this task an easy one) firmly on all bits of the surface, especially the edges. It was so much easier than I had anticipated!
The Décor Elements come in white or chocolate at this point. You really need to consider the color of your walls before purchasing. I didn't! (smile) This is the only room in our home that has "dark" enough walls to support the white element. But, as it turns out, it's the perfect room. The wall houses a collection of our parents, children, and friends photos from over the years. If you check out the large photo above the 'is' you'll see me, with my siblings, many years ago. I'm the one in the middle!
I'll be back next week with another sample. It's still on order (I needed to exchange the white for the chocolate!) but as soon as I have it in my hands it'll be going up on my stampin' room wall. I hope you decide to try one of these Décor Elements for yourself. They're stunning!
On this FOURTH OF JULY, I thought I'd share a card made by one of my stampin' friends, Cherie, for our June swap. What a simple and wonderful card it is for this holiday! Ingredients: Stamps: Classic Stars Jumbo Wheel, Warm Words CS: Real Red, Brilliant Blue, Whisper White, Brushed Silver Ink: Real Red, Brilliant Blue, White Craft pad Accessories: Jumbo Handle, Large Star, Star (smaller) and Horizontal Slot Punches, Dimensionals, Retired (sorry) silver ribbon, Embossing Buddy, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool.
TIP: To create the 'hanging stars', punch with the smaller Star Punch first. Then position your Large Star Punch so the images correspond and punch. Pretty cool huh?
I wish all Americans a happy, safe, and thoughtful Independence Day. And those of you outside the United States of America, I wish you also a happy and safe Fourth of July. We ALL have a July 4th don't we!
